I have already posted names of the four grand slams held each year now i would like to give some more description of these grand slams one after one.
Here comes the first one AUSTRALIAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
This tournament is managed by Tennis Australia, which is formerly known as the "Lawn Tennis Association Of Australia" and is the first grand slam of the year. It is the only grand slam which is played in Asia/Pacific. Australian open was firstly played in 1905 and was lastly contested on grass in 1987, after that in 1988 it became Hard Court event. The tournament is Currently held in Melbourne Park, Australia and each year held in January.
The main courts which are used for it are "RODLAVER ARENA" and "HISENSE ARENA" which are accommodated with some good standard stuff! One of its features are retractable roofs, which are shut downs in rain or heat.
Like all other tournaments Australian open has also group categories
likewise Men's and Women's single competitions; Men's and Women's, Double, Mixed Doubles, and Juniors and wheelchairs exhibition are held.
